August 29, 2019 – Costume Quest, the latest hit animated series produced by Wow! Unlimited Media’s Frederator Studios, announces the addition of seven brand new episodes that will premiere on October 11. Additionally, a 35-minute holiday special, Heroes on Holiday, will premiere on November 22. Epic Games Store is keeping the spooky season going into November with their free offering of Costume Quest. It’s a scene that both bizarre and brilliant, taking Costume Quest 2’s odd but amusing premise to its logical conclusion. Costume Quest 2’s graphics, while still relatively simple, have been bumped a bit since the first game. The company has rapidly built a strong production portfolio with a number of high-end properties, including Castlevania, a top-rated animation series on Netflix, ReBoot: The Guardian Code (Netflix) and Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures (with Mattel for Netflix), Bee and PuppyCat (Cartoon Hangover), Costume Quest (Amazon) and Spy Kids Mission Control (Netflix). Every kids dream would be a hero fighting for justice or having candy to eat forever. Orel’s nightmare world is easily the game’s most memorable location: a cyberpunk world in which the goblin-like Grubbins from the first game walk around in costumes reminiscent of the Borg, dental robots patrol for costume violations, and corpulent monsters run candy speakeasys. Costume Quest is developed by Double Fine and it’s a quirky RPG that follows three children on Halloween who are trying to save their town from Grubbins who are stealing all the candy. At around seven hours, Costume Quest 2 won’t last very long. At between six and seven hours running time, it’s not going to last you a very long time, even with a handful of achievements to collect and sidequests to complete.
If that wasn’t enough, Costume Quest gives you the chance to collect a wide variety of costumes. Enjoy party crackers, fruitcake, and festive top hats from gift boxes, or trade the unopened boxes in for a chance to win the ultra-rare white top hat. The series sees celebrity contestants enter the ‘Torture Dome’ where they must take on ‘Superhuman bosses’ with the chance to win a cash prize for charity. Soma is a survival horror game developed by Frictional Games and it it takes place in a mysterious underwater research with machinery that begins to take on human characteristics. Also, Insomniac Games and Best Buy are hosting the “First to Play” event at the Best Buy Torrance, Calif. They actually give your hero the ability to transform into powerful entities that the costumes are trying to portray. In a way, I think we all wish we could go back to a world where our simple superhero and robot costumes are suddenly real, and there are sewers, bayous, and dental dystopias to explore.
The parents of Julie Andrews worked at the hotel in its heyday and the Mary Poppins’ star is said to have kick-started her singing career there as a child performer. The battles are really there to break things up a bit, and when necessary, serve as a climax. The titles in question are Double Fine Production’s Costume Quest and Frictional Games’ SOMA. “The debut of Costume Quest earlier this year thrilled fans of the cult hit video game as well as younger viewers just discovering the characters and story, and we are looking forward to continuing the adventure with these additional episodes, just in time for Halloween, followed by our festive holiday special” said Fred Seibert, CEO, Frederator and Chief Creative Officer WOW!
